GROWING THE FUTURE WORKFORCE

The ProStart program was created to educate and develop promising high school graduates by giving them culinary and business training. Nevada Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NvRAEF) is proud to play a role in increasing our students’ opportunities for higher education and careers in the hospitality industry.

ProStart is a two-year culinary and restaurant management certificate program that provides instruction in 25 subject areas ranging from service to sanitation. This program gives students a chance to get a real look into the culinary world by offering skills training, industry mentors, competition experience, and workplace experience. ProStart encourages students to find their passion in the foodservice industry and helps them develop the culinary and business management skills necessary to enter the workforce.

Nearly 54,000 students participate in the ProStart program in more than 1,300 schools, spanning 47 states, territories and districts; more than 2200 students in 40 Nevada high schools are part of the ProStart program today.
